THE GOOD LIFE ~ Precious Victor Akah

Ask anyone you know if they want to live the good life and you'll get an affirmative answer. We all want to live the good life. But what is really the good life?

To many people, the good life is a life where you have power, influence, wealth, health and fame. A life where you can eat whatever you want to eat; wear whatever you want to wear; live wherever you want to live; buy whatever you want to buy; and do whatever you want to do - simply a life of luxury and absolute comfort.

In pursuit of this life (defined above) a lot of people, sadly, have gone to their early grave. Some however are still alive (breathing), but they're trapped in horrible situations seeming to have no way of escape: in secret societies which is doing more harm than good to them; in demonic covenants which deprives them of peace, rest, and sleep at night; in bad marriages/relationships that is killing them gradually; in jobs which is sucking life out of them.

If you find yourself in any of these situations and you desperately desire freedom, there is good news: THERE IS A WAY OUT! Jesus is the way out. "If the Son (Jesus) sets you free, then you will be really free." (John 8:36) Come to Jesus in repentance. He is more than able to give you the freedom you need from whatever negative situation you may currently find yourself in.

The Holy Bible tells us in Proverbs 10:22, "The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it." The good life actually is the BLESSED LIFE. A life that has the blessing of the Lord. The common definition people give to what a good life is as we saw in the beginning of this article is an erroneous definition. Because you can have power, influence, wealth, fame, even health, and not have joy, peace, and rest of mind. And these virtues, I tell you, is more costly and precious than all the gold/money in the world.

Someone who is presently pursuing money, power, influence, and fame, may think that these things are all he needs to live well on earth. But those who already achieved these things and have them in abundance, will tell you that while having these things is good, it is not the ultimate thing - it is not all-satisfying.

Only the blessing of the Lord will provide you with all these things plus joy, peace and rest. Only the blessing of the Lord is all-satisfying. This is why you cannot afford to not have a good relationship and an active fellowship with God. You can't have the blessing of the Lord without being connected to God first and be in a good relationship with Him. And you can't come to God just because you want His blessing. If you come for only the blessing, you'll not get the blessing. Because you can't fool God. He knows the thoughts, intents and contents of your heart. You must want God first and love Him first before He can release His blessing to you.

When God knows that you love Him genuinely and are serving Him, not because of what you want to get from Him, but because He is God and is worthy of your worship, releasing His blessing to you won't be a difficult thing. He'll do it gladly.

Know this: the blessing of the Lord is all-encompassing (wealth, health, wisdom, influence, fame, power, joy, peace, rest, and all that money and human beings cannot give you is in it). This is why you should go for it instead of leaving out God to pursue these things by yourself. Get God first and all these things shall be added to you by God Himself as at when due (Matthew 6:33).

Surrender your life to Jesus today if you're yet to do so. And if you backslided because you got carried away by the cares of this world and started pursuing wealth, material things, power, and fame, leaving God behind, come back to God, rededicate your life to Jesus today and God will accept you.

Begin to serve God and worship Him truthfully, and He'll beautify your life again with joy, peace, and rest, and glorify you with wealth, health, wisdom, influence, even fame - all in due time.

Remain blessed.
