THE RIDICULOUS PRODUCE THE MIRACULOUS –Part 1
Why do some professing Christians ignore and disobey
the instructions and commands of God in the Bible? Why do some believers cherry-pick
the commandments of God: they select those to obey and those to ignore? The
answer to this lies in the “ridiculous nature of God’s commandments, God’s
instructions and the teachings of the Bible”. Why do sinners and non-Christians
reject Jesus and refuse to accept His offer of forgiveness and salvation? It
still boils down to the “ridiculous nature of the process of salvation” in the
Kingdom of God.
There is a divine law established by God that cannot
be obliterated, because it is established forever. If a man works against this
law, he ends up piercing himself with many sorrows, but if a man cooperates with
this law, he lives a blessed and peaceful life. A wise man will therefore
firmly and joyfully embrace this spiritual law. What is this law? It is the
divine law that states that except the ridiculous is done, the miraculous
cannot be witnessed or experienced.
What does this law really mean? Doing the ridiculous
to witness the miraculous simply means obeying the seemingly ridiculous
commands, directives, and instructions of God in the Bible to experience the miraculous
acts of God.
The salvation process in Christianity is a
ridiculous thing to sinners, unbelievers, non-Christians and atheists. They scoff,
laugh and make mockery of how faith in Jesus Christ can forgive a man’s sins; how
the blood of Jesus can possibly wash away a man’s sins; how believing in Jesus
can save a man and really take an individual to Heaven. They cannot fathom it.
They cannot explain it using logic; they find it extremely illogical, senseless,
stupid, and unreasonable. And because it appears foolish, ridiculous and
illogical to them, they fail to receive Christ and be saved. But they do this
at their own peril and destruction. They don’t know that the ways of God are
not the ways of men. They fail to appreciate the fact that God is God, and man
is man. Therefore, God’s thoughts and ways will always be different from man’s
thoughts and ways; consequently, man cannot fathom with his tiny, natural mind
the ways of God and the acts of the Almighty God except with the Holy Spirit.
Many, if not all, of God’s commandments to us in the
Bible, when considered with the natural mind, appears irrational, illogical, ridiculous,
foolish and stupid. Let’s consider some of these commandments individually: God
commands no divorce for WHATSOEVER reason except adultery (Matthew 5:32,
1 Corinthians 7:10-11). This command to many Christian Couples today is
extremely foolish and groundless, and so they ignore it and divorce for any and
every reason (irresponsible spouse, unsubmissive wife, unloving husband, domestic
violence, lack of understanding, unfruitfulness, poverty, no love/romance,
ineffective communication etc).
God commands us to forgive all men regardless of the
severity of the pain, harm, wrong or hurt they must have caused us (Colossians
3:13). But today we have too many Christians struggling to forgive and let go.
To them, God’s command to forgive under any and every circumstance is
ridiculous, and so they hold on to every hurt, ill treatment, wrong and
offence. God commands us to love our enemies, bless those that curse us, do good to those that hate us, and pray for those who despitefully use us, and persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Oh! How much
this commandment is outrightly disregarded by so many Christians today. They
will rather love those that love them, hate those that hate them, curse those
that curse them, do bad to those that hate them, criticize and lambaste those
who despitefully use them and persecute them; because the command is perceived
as senseless to them.
Furthermore, God commands us to not repay anyone who
has done us evil with evil (Romans 12:17). Commands us to speak the truth at
all times and never lie under any circumstance, for liars will not make it to
Heaven (Colossians 3:9). Commands us to not give or take bribes (Exodus 23:8). Commands
us to flee and abstain from all forms of sexual immorality- adultery,
premarital sex, lust, pornography, masturbation, homosexuality… (1
Thessalonians 4:3). Commands us to live holy lives (1 Thessalonians 4:7). Asks
us to believe first before we see and receive, to give before we receive (Luke
6:38). All these commands are today
flouted by many Christians, because they consider it purely ridiculous and
would rather do what they think is reasonable and logical, operating by the
human senses, rather than by faith.
But if we will overlook the seemingly foolishness of
these commands and obey God, the miraculous will be our daily experience; meaning,
we will enjoy the abundant blessings of God throughout our stay on earth. Because
obedience alone provokes the blessings of God: "If they listen and obey God, they will be blessed with prosperity throughout their lives. All their years will be pleasant. But if they refuse to listen to him, they will cross over the river of death, dying from lack of understanding." Job 36:11-12.
God bless you.
