AFTER YOU'RE BORN AGAIN ~ Precious Victor Akah
From the Word of God (Holy Bible), we understand that all human beings were conceived in sin, regardless of their race, nationality, ethnic group, tribe, skin type, sex, language. "I was brought forth in [a state of] wickedness; In sin my mother conceived me [and from my beginning I, too, was sinful]." Psalm 51:5 (AMP)
This is true whether you know it or not, whether you believe it or not, and whether you admit it or not. It remains the solid truth. Because of this conception in sin, all humans were born with a sin nature which manifests itself in the following ways: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)
So it goes without saying that, if you're seeing yourself habitually manifesting some or all of these things aforementioned: sexual immorality, anger, drunkenness, wild parties, envy, quarreling, jealousy etc, yet claiming not to have been born in sin, it means that you've chosen to lie to yourself and deceive yourself, take care because, self-deceit is the highest form of deceit, it is very disastrous.
Well, back to our discussion, after an individual is born again (which means they have come to Christ, admitting that they're born in sin and possess a sin nature that makes them sin uncontrollably, thus asking Jesus to save them from the power of sin and to cleanse them from all their sins and give them a new life with a new nature - the nature of Christ, a righteous nature), they're no longer expected to still continue to manifest the acts of the sin nature, since they have been given a new nature. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]." 2 Corinthians 5:17 (AMP)
They are now required and expected by Christ to manifest His nature - His righteous nature - to produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit Christ deposited in them to guarantee that they now belong to Him (i.e they're now children of God): "And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people..." Ephesians 1:13-14 (NLT)
These are the fruits, the qualities, the traits we are now expected to bear, produce, manifest, as those who belong to Christ: "But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. " Galatians 5:22-23 (AMP)
How long have you been born again? 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, 6 months, 3 months? Have you began manifesting the acts of the new nature of Christ you now possess, or are you still manifesting the acts of the nature of sin, when you no longer posses the sin nature? You might ask or wonder, why do I still manifest the acts of the sin nature when I no longer possess the sin nature as a born again child of God? Well, this is what happens: when someone is born again, their spirit is renewed and reconnected back to God, their soul (will, mind and emotions) and their physical body usually is not affected instantly. This is why someone can accept Jesus into his or her life today, and tomorrow, they're cursing or fornicating.
So, what should be done? You're required, after being born again (accepting Christ Jesus), to now consciously submit your soul (will, mind and emotions) and your body to the dictates of the Holy Spirit living right inside you, by so doing, you'll cease manifesting the acts of the sin nature and start manifesting the acts of the righteous nature of Jesus you now have. Your renewed spirit has reconnected back to God and is in perfect sync with God; it is encapsulated by the Holy Spirit, so as long as you do what the Holy Spirit says, you'll cease manifesting the acts of the sin nature (which your body and soul were formerly used to and may want to still continue manifesting).
Look carefully at what the Scripture says: "But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts]. For the sinful nature has its desire which is opposed to the Spirit, and the [desire of the] Spirit opposes the sinful nature; for these [two, the sinful nature and the Spirit] are in direct opposition to each other [continually in conflict], so that you [as believers] do not [always] do whatever [good things] you want to do. But if you are guided and led by the Spirit, you are not subject to the Law." Galatians 5:16-18 (AMP)
Beloved, after you're born again, to successfully live a new life in Christ that is not clothed or robed with the acts of the sin nature, you must yield yourself to the Holy Spirit. Pray continually, study the Word of God and ask the Holy Spirit to help you yield totally to Him and live in obedience to His instructions.
