THIS THING CALLED FAVOUR ~ Precious Victor Akah

Favour is one thing almost everyone desires to have. To show you how much people love FAVOUR, a vast number of people around the world bear the name "FAVOUR". We love favour and pray to experience it every single day we go out, because many of us, particularly Christian, from scriptural teachings we have heard, understand what favour can do to the life of a man. To some extent, we know the power of favour and the benefits of being favoured, especially by God Almighty.

What's more? A prayer of Favour is what everyone joyfully says a big Amen to. "May God favour you. May God cause men to be favourably disposed towards you. May you have favour with God and with man all the days of your life. May you enjoy unlimited and unending favour."

Say this prayer of Favour for anyone on their birthday celebration or any of such celebrations and you'll see their faces beaming with contagious smiles, as they say a loud Amen to your prayers; this is true whether a person goes to church or not.

But then, funnily, we pray this prayer for people often on their day of celebration, yet, it doesn't become the reality of some persons. What could be the issue?

Well, I found out and I'll share with you in a bit. During one of my personal Bible studies, I discovered something about a man named Noah in the Book of Genesis. God was about to destroy the whole earth with flood because of widespread wickedness, but He decided to look favourably upon one man called Noah - to spare his life and that of his beloved family. In other words, God showed Noah favour.

But, why? I mean, think about it, there must be something special about this man. There must be something he was doing that others weren't doing that made God single him out to be favoured. The Bible records that during his time, wickedness and evil was highly prevalent, but only Noah stood for righteousness and lived righteously.

"But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord... Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God." Genesis 6:8-9

So what made God favour Noah? He was righteous. Others were practicing evil and immorality, not walking with God and doing what pleased Him. But Noah made the decision to walk with God and do what is right before Him. Hence, God handpicked him to spare his life and family when He wanted to destroy the world.

"Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you with all your household, for you [alone] I have seen as righteous (doing what is right) before Me in this generation." Genesis 7:1

As I was meditating on this, the Holy Spirit took my mind to Psalm 5:12 to buttress this point. What does it say? "For You, O LORD, bless the righteous man [the one who is in right standing with You]; You surround him with favor as with a shield."

So what do we understand from this as being the reason why prayers of favour some people receive do not become their reality? RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Now you may be wondering, how do I become a righteous man or woman when everyone was born a sinner? It's simple, and I'll explain it briefly.
Please know that you need this understanding because once you're righteous, whether or not a prayer of favour is prayed for you, you are already a favoured man (one shielded with favour).

A righteous man is a favoured man. God's favour automatically comes on you the moment you become righteous. No one prayed a prayer of favour for Noah in the Bible before God favoured him.

Even Jesus as a young boy enjoyed favour with God and with man, not because a prayer of favour was prayed for Him. But because He is righteous. "And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and men." Luke 2:52

So, how do you become righteous?
First, in the New Testament (the New Covenant with the Blood of Jesus), to be righteous is to be divinely empowered and enabled to do what is right and pleasing in God's eyes after the sin nature is done away with by the Blood of Jesus, and the righteousness of God is imputed to you by faith in Jesus Christ.

Now, you become righteous by FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. It is that simple. "This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." Romans 3:22
Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe and accept Him as your Saviour who came to this earth, died for your sins, and rose from the dead for your justification, and you'll be saved and made righteous.

You're made righteous by God imputing the righteousness of His Son Jesus to you when you accept Jesus and believe and confess He is Lord. Do this and become righteous today.
Then you can live a life of endless favour with God and man. God's favour provokes man's favour. So when you successfully secure God's favour, you also earn man's favour.

If you've decided to join the company of the righteous, pray this prayer earnestly and passionately with all sincerity: LORD JESUS, I COME TO YOU TODAY AS YOUR CHILD. THANK YOU, FOR DYING FOR ME AND CLEANSING ME OF ALL SINS WITH YOUR BLOOD. I CONFESS THAT YOU'RE LORD AND SAVIOUR OF MY LIFE. THANK YOU, I'M BORN AGAIN, IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN!

Welcome to the family of the righteous, where access to endless and unlimited favour is freely given to everyone. Enjoy God's favour from now, in Jesus' Name!

Shalom.
