SEEK HELP ~ PRECIOUS VICTOR AKAH

Some people prefer to keep struggling in life, even though they know who to go to to ease the struggle or completely halt it, but they just don't want to seek help or receive help from this person.

For instance, it is a common knowledge that there is no situation Jesus cannot remedy. There is absolutely nothing He cannot do. But some people choose to continue suffering in life instead of turning to Jesus for help.

Sometime last week, I was walking along a school hallway with some young students walking in front of me. Suddenly, one of the students (holding a bottled water) turned back, and immediately she saw me, she said: "Teacher, please help me open the bottled water." I smiled.

The fact that this young girl acknowledged that she could not open the bottled water and asked for help immediately she saw one (because she's been trying to open it for a while without success and her girlfriend of the same age walking with her could not open it either) is instructional - because this is something a lot of adults cannot do. She acknowledged two things: (1) She cannot open the bottled water neither can her friend open it. (2) She acknowledged that I can open the bottled water with ease - and so asked for my help to open it.

I received the bottled water from her hand, opened it, and gave it back to her. She was so happy. She genuflected and thanked me. I smiled again. Seeking help is good and encouraged, but it is much more important to seek help from someone who is capable of helping you. Seeking help from someone who is capable of helping you can ease your life.

But what some people do is - refuse to seek help or choose to seek help from someone who clearly cannot help them. Seeking help from someone who isn't capable of helping you is seeking help from the wrong person. Joining an evil secret society or going to a witch doctor for help is seeking help from the wrong person. Asking an unbeliever for answers to spiritual problems you're having as a Christian is seeking help from someone who isn't capable of helping you.

Asking a fornicator or a womanizer for help to live a sexually pure life as a child of God is seeking help from the wrong person. Seeking godly counsel or advice from someone who has no fear of God and no regard for God is seeking help from the wrong person. When you seek help from the right person, you'll get the help you need. When you seek help from the wrong person, you don't get help; rather, your problems are compounded and your sorrows are multiplied.

Now to those who think it is cowardly to seek help, please note that seeking help is not a sign of weakness, but strength, because it takes strength and courage to seek help since it's something most people are unable to do. So if you can do it, then you're a strong person.

Are you passing through a difficult situation right now that you don't know what to do? If you know someone that is capable of helping you, seek help from them; seek counsel, seek assistance. The worst that can happen is they turning you down or refusing to help, but most people would help you when they see your sincerity.

Most importantly, Jesus is the Ultimate Succourer and Helper. There is nothing He cannot help you with. There is no situation, no matter how ugly, hopeless or bad it is, that He cannot salvage. So come to Him. He said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]" He also said, "Call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” Psalm 50:15

Not seeking help has cost many people their lives, precious relationships, promising businesses, and valuables - you'll not add to the list of victims - so seek help today, and seek it fast. You don't have eternity to fulfill your purpose on earth, you're bound by time; work with time.

Shalom.
