DENIGRATORS ~ Precious Victor Akah

Are you contemplating doing what you know is wrong and out of God's will and plan for your life because of pressure from friends and family? Have people (who do not know what God has called you to do and, are ignorant of the peculiar path God has told you to take) made mockery of you in a painful manner and you're tempted to derail and take the wrong path just to prove a point to them? Don't let their mockery get to your heart. Pay no attention to them. Emulate Jesus and do what He did when His brothers 'nicely' mocked Him.

Let's read the story in John 7:1-11

[1]After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him.
[2]But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near,
[3]Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do.
[4]No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.”
[5]For even his own brothers did not believe in him.
[6]Therefore Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do.
[7]The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.
[8]You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.”
[9]After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.
[10]However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.
[11]Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, “Where is he?”

Jesus did not give in to the pressure from His brothers to attend the Feast of Tabernacles in Judea publicly because He knew His destiny and understood that He had to work with time. If He ever did anything at the wrong time, it would drastically affect His destiny.

His brothers mockingly told Him to go to Judea and attend the Feast (not knowing that the Jews in Judea were waiting to take Jesus' life), but Jesus knew this and did not pay attention to the contemptuous and denigrating words His brothers said to Him.

Do you know that if Jesus had because of the mockery of His brothers gone to Judea PUBLICLY to attend the Feast of Tabernacles and was killed untimely (truncating His divine mission on earth) all that his brothers would have said is, "We are sorry we told Him to come to the Feast. We didn't know the Jews were planning to capture and kill Him. We're sorry." And that's how it'd end. Jesus' mission would have been abolished and His destiny unfulfilled; because the Jews watched and looked carefully for Him at the Feast since they believed He would definitely come, but He came in a way they never envisioned He would: SECRETLY.

What should we learn from this? People usually do not know what your destiny is. They don't know what God has called you to do and the path you must take to accomplish it (which is usually 'odd, strange and peculiar', sometimes senseless and foolish in the eyes of men), and so, they'll mock you, they'll call you names, they'll try to use mockery, ridicule, rejection and ostracizing to arm-twist you into following their path, but you must understand what God has called you to do and what your mission on earth is.

Because if you derail and join them on the path they're walking and end up being  destroyed alone, all they will say is, "We are sorry.  We didn't know." Some may even laugh at your foolishness for abandoning the path God instructed you to take and following them. So, after discovering your mission (purpose), you must walk with God and pay attention to His instructions.

Never leave the path God has asked you to walk on and follow people to walk on the common path they're walking. Understand that any time can be right for others, but for you, you must do things only at the right time. So, until the right time comes, never take a step. Stay where God has asked you to stay and keep doing the work He has commissioned you to do. This is the only way to ensure your mission on earth is fulfilled and your destiny is realized like Jesus successfully accomplished His earthly assignment.

Jesus stood His ground and boldly told His brothers He wasn't going to Judea until the right time. He resisted the pressure they wanted to put on Him. He could have decided to go publicly when His brothers jeered Him, but He did not. Pay no attention to the ridicule of men. Pay no attention to their derogatory words.

Jesus is celebrated globally today because He remained focused and fulfilled His earthly assignment. I believe His brothers who mocked Him later wished they never did. This is the same way you must not be distracted by the ridiculous and contemptuous statements of men, but stay focused and fulfill your destiny and be celebrated globally.

You shall fulfil your destiny in Jesus' Name. You shall not be distracted by detractors, nor be destroyed by denigrators.

Stay blessed.
