CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY

Many of us are inclined to publicly acknowledge God when celebrating our birthday; we usually are quick to ascribe glory to God on our social media platforms, thank Him verbally and appreciate Him when celebrating our birthdays, which is good. But the most important question deserving sober consideration, for it is what God really looks out for is: how much glory, how much praise, how much honor, does the life you live for 365 days in a year bring to Him? Do you really acknowledge God and consult His word in making decisions pertaining to how you live the life God has given you? It is a hypocritical thing to live against the will of God, to consistently act contrary to the commands of God, to live a lifestyle that clearly rebels against the teachings of God's Word, to never acknowledge God and what His word says on how you should live in this world, and then come before God or storm your social media platform to give God glory with your lips on the celebration of your birthday. I know you may not realize how hypocritical this is whenever you’re doing it, but it is how it is –it is a hypocritical act.

We really need to understand that God does not accept lip service but heart service. He revealed this in these two scriptures: “You hypocrites! Isaiah prophesied correctly about you: ‘These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.” Matthew 15:7-8; and Isaiah 29:13 “The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught.” Therefore, don't offer God your “lip appreciation” or public gratitude if your heart is not serving Him in truth and your life is not glorifying Him in righteousness, because He won’t accept it. Offering God public praise in a bid to project yourself to the world as someone who acknowledges the existence of God, who respects God, honors God, fears God, or someone who is religious, or even just to fulfill all righteousness because everyone else does it during their birthdays –so it’s a norm, is all worthless. God will not accept such praise. God will only accept your thanks and encomium if it comes from your heart, because God looks at our heart, not just the lips, but the heart most importantly; and it'll only come from your heart when your life -the lifestyle you're living is really giving glory to God.

If your life is not giving glory to God, if the lifestyle you're living does not represent God in any way or honor Him, then it is pointless publicizing on social media that God deserves all the glory on your birthday. If He truly deserves all the glory, you'll seek to live a life that brings Him glory all the days of your life, not just verbally declaring that He deserves all the glory on your birthday just because people around you do likewise on their birthday. When you say “I thank God for life/ I thank God for keeping me alive to see my birthday”, what are you really thanking God for? God’s grace kept you alive so you can repent and turn from immoral living because God loves you and does not want you to die in sin and go to hell, but have you received this grace to turn away from sin, or are you playing with the grace of God thinking it will last forever? The things you do in secret and in public, does it bring glory to God? Does your source of income/livelihood bring glory to God? Does your relationship with the opposite sex (who is not your legally married spouse) bring glory to God? These are the questions you should ask yourself to know if you’re toying with God’s grace.

"The Lord knows those who are his" and "Those who say that they belong to the Lord must turn away from wrongdoing." says 2 Timothy 2:19. It is perplexing and paradoxical when professing Christian ladies storm their social media platforms on their birthday thanking God for the privilege to see another birthday, ascribing all glory to God in writing, yet at the same time insulting and dishonoring the same God they are praising with their appearance: how can you be giving honor to God with your lips and at the same time giving honor to the devil with your body by dressing indecently and posing indecently for birthday photo shoots? Dear Christian lady, I know you've heard this over and over again and have continued to pay deaf ears to it, but you'll continue to hear it because it is the truth: INDECENT DRESSING DOES NOT IN ANY WAY BRING GLORY TO GOD BUT THE DEVIL. It honors the devil, not God. God is not honored with your sexy poses in revealing clothes showing your boobs, belly, thighs and backside in an attempt to look "hot", "attractive" or "sexy" for the public, when you ought to be dressing to honor and please God as a child of God if you are one. If you really want to give God the glory and honor on your birthday and have Him accept it, indecent dressing and lewd poses is a NO as a born again Christian. And as someone who's yet to be born again, the first and important step to take is to genuinely surrender your life to Jesus and be born again; your style of dressing will change as the truth of God's word permeates your spirit, soul and body.

To you Christian man, it is baffling and ironical when you verbally give glory to God on your birthday and at the same moment give glory to the devil by engaging in drunkenness, smoking, wild party, and so on, because at the end of the day, the one who receives the glory is the devil, not God; because God cannot share His glory with the devil. He either takes all the glory or He takes nothing at all. God does not receive glory on your birthday when you spend it consuming alcohol, smoking, listening and dancing to immoral music, engaging in illicit sex and all kinds of immoral acts. No, He doesn't! Ascribing glory to God publicly and giving glory to the devil in private by indulging in immoral acts is hypocrisy and self-deception. You must realize that what is paramount is not giving God glory publicly or with your lips, but having God accept the glory you give Him, because it is only when He accepts the glory that He'll bless you and reward you .

Many give God glory with their mouth, but few give God glory with their life. Which category are you in? The last category is what God seeks because their mouth is also involved in giving Him glory. Repent and live right today! Jesus died so that you and I will be free from sin and live right. God is not joyed when you give Him glory publicly on your birthday, but the life you live gives all glory to the devil. He is joyed when your life and the lifestyle you live honors Him and brings Him glory.

A righteous life, a holy life, and a godly lifestyle is what brings glory to God. A sinful life, immoral living, and an ungodly lifestyle brings God no glory but gives all glory to the devil. You can live a life that honors God and brings Him glory by being born again today and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Humble yourself before God and call on Jesus to save you and fill you with His Holy Spirit to be empowered to live a life pleasing to God. If you really want God to receive the glory and thanks you're giving Him every time you're celebrating your birthday, you must give Him ALL THE GLORY by ensuring the devil does not take any measure of glory- for God does not and cannot share His glory with the devil or any man; so once it is divided or shared, He'll not accept it. He takes only ALL. Start this by giving your life to Christ today to live as a lifestyle the life that brings glory and honor to God every day of your life, not just on your birthday.

God bless you.
