WHO TO CONSULT WHEN CONFUSED ~ Precious C Philip

I was watching a Christian movie some days ago and something jumped out at me in one scene where one of the actors playing the role of a Chief Priest made a statement that grabbed my attention in an unusual manner. They needed a three-day-old baby for a sacrifice to their gods, but were confused about where to find one.

The Chief Priest then said, "When confused, we consult the oracle." This statement was instantly singled out and boldly highlighted for me. It occured to me that as Christians, many of us are unnecessarily suffering untold hardship and affliction because we have failed to consult the right Person to shed light into our confusing situation and show us the way out.

Many of us, when faced with a problem that is beyond our capacity to solve, or a challenge that we're utterly confused about how to get out of, we immediately run first to man or even to the agents of Satan (false prophets and prophetesses, herbalists/witch doctors, cultists, witches/wizards...) to seek help, instead of running to the One who alone knows what we should do to emerge victorious out of any challenge.

The Chief Priest did not say to the king and his cabinet members, now that they're confused on how to find a three-day-old baby, they should go to the villagers and start asking them where to find the baby or that they should go to a servant of the Most High God to seek solution. No! He told them, again, "When confused, we consult the oracle," not people, not servants of the Most High God, nor any other person.

Sadly, for many professing Christians, their belief is: When confused, we consult people or the agents of Satan, not God nor the servants of God. How terrible! I'm sharing this today to encourage all of us as Christians, as Children of God, to believe and incorporate this biblical truth in our daily lives: When confused, we consult God Almighty first. If He then sends us to talk to one of His children/servants or any other person, we take the step.

When confused, we must run to God; we make inquires from God the Holy Spirit who is always with us 24/7, we seek the face of God in prayers FIRST before anything else - FIRST before running to man for help. This is what our Heavenly Father wants from us: that we're quick to run to Him and seek Him first before consulting man. And, that we never run to get "help" from Satan and his agents in human form. Not following this protocol and procedure of consulting God first is the reason why many Christians experience failures and disappointments.

There is a beautiful story in the book of Genesis 25:22-23 that drives home the message of this blog post. Rebekah was confused as to why the twins inside her womb were struggling with each other. Guess what she did? She went to consult God. She did not go to ask her husband or her friends, but went straight to God. The Bible writes, "The babies jostled each other within her, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. The Lord said to her, “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.”

May the Lord help us to remain in Him and to hold on to Him no matter the challenge that confronts us in our daily walk with Him. May He give you clarity on that confusing issue as you consult Him today. And may you never give in to the temptation to seek "help" from Satan and his agents, but run to God first and always, because He is The Very Present Help in time of need.

I leave you with these two Scriptures:

"Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more." Psalm 16:4

"This is what the Lord says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.

It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:5-8

God bless you.
