Six Attractive Qualities To Have As A Christian Woman ~ Precious C Philip

While studying the book of Genesis Chapter 24 recently, my eyes were opened to the attractive qualities Rebekah had as a young unmarried woman - which all Christian women wanting to be attractive should have.

So, we shall be drawing out these attractive qualities from the life of Rebekah revealed to us in the book of Genesis Chapter 24.

What are these attractive qualities every Christian woman should have to be attractive?

1. Rebekah lived a sexually disciplined life; she valued sexual purity. The Bible highlighted that Rebekah was a virgin, even though she had reached the age of marriage and was a very beautiful lady. Genesis 24:16 says "Rebekah was very beautiful and old enough to be married, but she was still a virgin..." Your beauty is not a license to be indecently dressed or sexually immoral, or to trade your body in exchange for money, gifts, or luxurious treatment from licentious, unchaste men. That you have advanced in age does not permit you to dance to the immoral requests of ungodly men (to sleep with them before marriage, or get pregnant before marriage, or practice cohabitation) just to get married. Learn chastity, sexual purity and discipline from Rebekah. Keep your moral standards and don't lower them for the sake of love or marriage. This makes you attractive and will eventually attract the right man to you.

2. She was hospitable and generous to strangers. Being generous and hospitable (friendly and welcoming to strangers/guests/visitors) makes any woman attractive. When you're generous and hospitable, you make it easier for the right man ordained for you to meet you early enough. Most marital delay some Christian ladies are experiencing can be shattered with the tool of generosity and hospitality. Genesis 24:18 reports the response of Rebekah to a stranger's request of a water to drink: "Yes, my lord,” she answered, “have a drink.” And she quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and gave him a drink."

3. She was respectful and humble. Rebekah addressed a stranger who is a "mere" servant as "my lord" and spoke to him with genuine respect. “Yes, my lord,” she answered, “have a drink.” Genesis 24:18. Give respect to people, both those who deserve it and those who don't - and let it come from a genuine heart. Don't fake it. Because God sees your heart and will reward your actions. Rebekah could have chosen to disrespect the stranger who asked her for a drink, because it was obvious to her that he was a servant. He didn't deserve her respect, neither did he earn it in any way, but she gave it to him anyway. Be genuinely humble too. Humble yourself before God and man. Remember, God lifts the humble (James 4:10). No wonder He lifted Rebekah from singlehood to married life. As you humble yourself, may God lift you from singlehood to married life sooner than you expected in Jesus' Name.

4. Rebekah was extraordinarily kind and helpful. She offered to fetch and give water to the servant's ten camels: "When she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink.” Genesis 24:19. Offer to help people whenever you can. Helping people has a way of blessing us in ways we cannot imagine. It opens doors money cannot open. It does things money cannot do for us. If Rebekah had not been kind and helpful enough to offer to give drink to the servant's camels, the door of marriage may not have been opened to her. Be kind and offer help to people. It opens unimaginable doors, including the door of a good life partner.

5. She was a patient, hard-working and a strong woman. Rebekah fetched water from a well and gave drink to ten camels until they were satisfied. We know camels drink a lot of water. Rebekah not only fed ten camels, she was patient for all ten to drink to their satisfaction, and she worked hard to fetch enough water that will satiate the ten camels. "So she quickly emptied her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw water for all his camels." Genesis 24:20

Patience, strength and working hard are good qualities you need to be an attractive woman. An impatient woman will make regrettable decisions. A weak and lazy woman will always be taken advantage of by callous men. Work to earn a living. Don't depend on men nor on financial assistance from people to live.

6. She was courteous, polite and well-mannered. "Whose daughter are you?” the servant asked. “And please tell me, would your father have any room to put us up for the night?” “I am the daughter of Bethuel,” she replied. “My grandparents are Nahor and Milcah. Yes, we have plenty of straw and feed for the camels, and we have room for guests." Genesis 24:23-25. Be intentional about being more courteous and polite in your dealings and conversations with people. Show that you have good manners and are well-behaved.

These goodly qualities we see in the life of Rebekah that made her an attractive young woman will also make the life of any Christian woman (who carefully and diligently cultivates such qualities) attractive and comely.

As I am admonishing you to seek to cultivate and exhibit these admirable qualities, I am equally admonishing myself. Because when I was reading Genesis 24 and the Holy Spirit began revealing these excellent qualities Rebekah had, I knew I had to share it with my fellow Christian ladies, so we all can glow, shine and radiate God's glory in godly character and moral uprightness that makes us attractive.

So I hope this blessed you. If it did and you'll love to reach out to me, I will be glad to hear from you. You can reach out to me on any of my social media platforms: Facebook or Instagram @ Precious C Philip. Remain blessed.
