LOOK TO JESUS ~ Precious C Philip

When it comes to the subject of looking to Jesus, many of us Christians believe in our hearts that we're indeed looking up to Jesus; we even give a voice to it some times. But it's unfortunate that many of us, though we claim to look to Jesus, are sincerely not looking to Him. This usually comes to limelight when we're suddenly met with unpleasant circumstances, hit by tragic incidence, or confronted with a difficult situation. No wonder many experience shame, disappointment, failure, and sorrows.

During challenging times, you see the same people who say they're looking to Jesus, running off immediately to man to seek for help without first consulting or communicating with the very One they proclaim to be looking up to. Some do not even run to man, they run to the devil himself: witches, witch doctors, spiritualists, fake prophets, occultism, sorcery...

But this ought not to be so. The fact that you're a child of God and you're walking with God does not necessarily mean you'll not have challenges. Challenges will come. However, Jesus promises you deliverance ALWAYS (Psalm 34:19) if you honestly and faithfully look to Him without wavering.

The joy of looking to Jesus in all honesty and truth is that Jesus will always come through for you. I mean this literally. He always comes through for every single genuine Christian who looks up to Him. How do I know this? Because it's my own personal experience, truthfully. Also, because God does not fail; He is a faithful God. So He is always faithful to those who faithfully look to Him (Psalm 18:25).

God also does not lie. God does not tell lies because He cannot lie; it is impossible for Him to lie (Hebrews 6:18). He promised that those who look to Him will NEVER be put to shame. Psalms 25:3, Amplified version says, "Indeed, none of those who [expectantly] wait for You will be ashamed; Those who turn away from what is right and deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed)."

Other versions says "Defeat does not come to those who trust in you, but to those who are quick to rebel against you." (GNT)

"No one who waits for you will ever be put to shame, but all who are unfaithful will be put to shame." (GWT)

So we understand from this Scripture that whoever genuinely looks to Jesus and does not stop looking to Him, will never see shame. Shame, disgrace, disappointment, reproach, failure, defeat comes to those who fail to look to Jesus; those who proclaim with their mouth that they're looking to Jesus but in their hearts they're looking to men or the devil for salvation; those who have ungodly alternatives they're considering in their hearts, hence, aren't truthfully looking to Jesus; and those who started off looking to Jesus but stopped on the way and caved in to ungodly pressures.

One beautiful Scripture says "Those who look to him (Jesus) for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces" Psalm 34:5. This will be your experience as you look to Jesus for help, in Jesus' Name. I look up to Him and I'm never covered with shame. He surprised me some days ago with a material miracle I wasn't expecting and never intentionally prayed for. I just fix my eyes on Him, cast all my burdens and cares on Him, and like He promised me in His Word (Psalm 55:22 - Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall) He never lets me fall. He provides what I need - many times even before I talk to Him about it.

What is that challenge confronting you right now? The challenge of hunger, payment of house rent, payment of children's school fees? The desire for a child, marriage partner, good job, school admission? Whatever the challenge or desire or need is, look to Jesus from your heart and He'll satisfy your heart's desire in due time if you don't stop looking to Him.

However, you MUST be a child of God to qualify to receive any kind of help from God. So, if you're yet to become a child of God through faith in Jesus and become born again, please do so right now, then you can be privileged to receive help from God.

Believe the Word of God and let God's peace rule and saturate your heart: "For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM [whoever adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Him] WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED [in his expectations].” Romans 10:11

Look to Jesus; look to Him alone; look to Him in faith and in truth, and you'll never be disappointed.

Shalom.
