LIVING RIGHT ~ Precious Victor Akah

"Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:7-8

The Scripture we just read reveals that one sure way we can know someone has been truly made righteous by faith in Jesus Christ is that they do what is right. And when we say what is right, we mean what is right in God's eyes. Because, an act can be right in man's eyes but not right in God's eyes. Abortion, polygamy, prostitution, premarital sex, masturbation, adultery, divorce and remarriage for any and whatever reason, homosexuality, living with someone you're not married to and having children outside wedlock, for instance, is right or acceptable in the eyes of many people today, but we are certain from God's Word that these things are abominable acts in God's sight.

When a sinner comes to God in genuine repentance and puts their faith in Jesus to be saved, they're automatically made righteous: the righteousness of Jesus is imputed to them (1 Corinthians 5:21), thereby transforming them from a sinner to a righteous child of God.

As a righteous child of God, they're now empowered by the Holy Spirit living in them to live right, that is, to live righteously, to do what is right in God's eyes, to practice righteousness, to do what God considers righteous acts, henceforth.

They're therefore expected by God to study His Word (the Holy Bible) carefully under the spiritual tutelage of the Holy Spirit and the physical instruction of a mature believer, to find out and know for themselves what things God considers to be righteous acts, in order to do them and bring pleasure to God.

"Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children." 1 John 2:29

But unfortunately, some after being saved, continue with their old sinful habits, because they think they cannot stop them or overcome them, which is a lie the devil sells to them. There is no negative or sinful habit, no matter the length of the addiction nor the severity of the addiction, that cannot be stopped. I'm speaking from experience.

You just need to first believe that that addiction or habit can be overcome. You need to believe that you can now live right for God because you are now a new creature and old things have passed away and you have been endured with power from on high to live above sin and immorality.

"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17

Yes, you can break free from that old habit. You can stop lying. You can stop stealing. You can stop fornicating. You can stop lusting, watching pornography and masturbating. You can stop gossiping and backbiting. You can stop hating, envying and keeping malice. You can do this with the power of Christ in you.

The way to break a negative habit is to become discontented with it. You'll never change what you tolerate nor break free from what you pamper.

Say to yourself, "Enough is enough!" and go on your knees and cry out to God with a loud voice to help you break free from that habit. Ask the Holy Spirit living inside of you for help and take physical steps to regain your freedom from the devil. Remember, whatever habit that is stopping you from living right for God can be overcome with the power of God. And until you get angry with that situation and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, you will not take a violent step to be liberated.

If you don't make a move, the Holy Spirit will not move to help you.

Before I got saved, I had some bad habits I was struggling with. But after I got saved, I was determined to break free from them all in order to successfully live right for Christ and I went ahead to ask the Holy Spirit for help, the Holy Spirit helped me greatly and with the physical steps I also took, I got my freedom, deliverance, and victory.

I am here today to tell you that you can live right for Christ as long as you have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light - where you are now the righteous child of the Almighty God by faith in Christ Jesus. Exercise the power given to you and break free from anything and from anyone (ungodly relationship/bad friendship) keeping you from living right for Christ.

It is those who lived right for Christ on earth that have a home in heaven to spend eternity in with Jesus. Just being saved is not enough. You must live right (practice righteousness) on earth to live in heaven.

Don't let the devil stop you from living in Heaven by lying to you that you cannot live right in our present world because of the multiplication of evil in the world. A lot of children of God (who have the hope of seeing Jesus) are still living right today; join us.
