WHY NIGHTCLUBBING IS A SIN by Precious C Philip
It is very surprising to see some Christians argue that there's nothing wrong with clubbing/nightclubbing. Some wonder what in the world could be wrong with clubbing. If you find yourself in this category, this article is written to enlighten you and make you come to terms with the truth.
What are some of the reasons why clubbing is a sin?
1. The music: You and I know that the music played in nightclubs is not gospel music. It is rather corrupt music that appeals to the flesh; that stirs you up to want to dance in a sexually provocative manner as a woman or in a crazy manner as a man. The music also evokes sexual passion and the desire to satisfy this passion by either dancing with a lady and touching and caressing her body, or receiving a lap dance, or getting into the very act of sexual intercourse. So in general, the music played in nightclubs does not bring glory to God but pleasure to the devil.
2. The activities: The activities done in nightclubs does not in any way glorify God: drinking, smoking, snorting drugs, lap dance, strip dance, sexual immoral activities, ungodly music, and ungodly dancing etc. No man who frequents nightclubs is free from lust and/or fornication and adultery, because in nightclubs ladies dress half-naked to dance in a sexually provocative manner that leaves you seated on a seat imagining sexual immoral acts with them. The Bible is against these activities practiced in nightclubs: sexual immorality, debauchery, revellings, carousing, lasciviousness, drunkenness, orgies, and the like (Galatians 5:19-21).
3. Erotic dance: In a strip club for instance, you have strippers or erotic dancers - ladies who dance almost naked, entertaining men with lap dance or sex. God does not take delight in such evil. The Bible admonishes us, "Don't take part in doing those worthless things that are done in the dark. Instead, show how wrong they are"(Ephesians 5:11). It also instructs us to abstain from all forms of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). As a Christian, you're directly supporting these evil deeds being done in a nightclub - you're encouraging them when you are a nightclubber instead of exposing and speaking against these things.
4. At nightclubs, you are served liquor, served corrupt music, served vulgar comedies and obscene jokes, served ungodly floor show, served sexually provocative dance, and your eyes are fed with all kinds of immoralities - all these works together to defile you and weaken your spiritual life.
5. It is difficult, if not impossible, to represent Christ in a nightclub. If you club as a Christian, you cannot boldly stand up in a nightclub to preach the Gospel of Jesus. Moreover, you cannot have the confidence and boldness to preach to someone who sees you regularly in a nightclub to repent and give their life to Christ. Your conscience will always convict you of sin, thereby disqualifying you from preaching the gospel to a sinner.
6. It is impossible to club and successfully live a righteous life. If you club as a Christian, take it from me, you'll never be able to live a righteous life - you'll keep struggling with sin. What a man sees and what a man hears affects how they live. You regularly behold those living unrighteously at nightclubs and hear unrighteous things at nightclubs, so these things will always fight against you living holy. You'll just find yourself living like the people you meet and see at nightclubs. You'll be sexually immoral, you'll be a cigarette smoker, weed smoker, alcoholic, indecent dresser, and a womanizer.
These things and more makes nightclubbing a sin. A true Christian who loves God truly and wants to honor God and live a holy life will have no business going to nightclubs. I've never seen a true born again Christian living holy who clubs. Christians I know who club are either not born again or they're carnally minded. Remember, "to be carnally minded is death" (Romans 8:6): to live under the influence of the carnal mind is to live in the state of condemnation, and consequently liable to eternal death: whereas, on the contrary, he who is spiritually minded has the life and peace of God in his soul, and is in full prospect of eternal life.
Remember also that whoever is not born again cannot see the kingdom of God even though they claim to be Christians (John 3:3). Surrender your life to Jesus today if you're not yet born again to be born anew by the Holy Spirit, or rededicate your life to Jesus if you're born again but backslided and went back to your former life of sin. To die in a backslidden state is to die and go to hell. Return to Jesus today; He loves you and is ready to accept you back.
Shalom!
